Axes are important vital tools in Lumber Tycoon 2 which are used to chop down trees and cut logs and planks into smaller chunks for easier transportation or milling. (The Chop Saw, a structure, is also used to cut logs and planks into smaller chunks, but it cannot be used to chop down trees.)
Usage
Axes are used while equipped by clicking or tapping on a log or plank within the appropriate range to create a crack, then clicking or tapping on the crack to make it deeper until it passes through the whole cross-section of the log or plank and cuts it apart, causing any other cracks on the log or plank to disappear. Chopping a log at one end will disconnect it from other logs at that end --- in this particular use case, the log being chopped will remain in one piece instead of being split into two shorter logs.
Axes have a limit to how many times they can be swung each second, indicated in the table below by their Swing Cooldown. Several swings can be chained together by starting the next swing while the axe is coming up to its rest position from the previous swing, but attempting to start the next swing too early will break the swing chain and prevent additional axe swings for a short time.
Since axes register as tools, they can be dropped by pressing the Backspace key, rearranged in another order in the player's inventory, and be dropped and removed from the player's inventory with white sparkling effects if the player dies. However, if the player manages to die through falling into the void, the axes in their inventory will not be lost and will remain in the player's inventory when they respawn. Only the owner or players whitelisted by the owner can grab or equip a given axe.
